Magazine advert construction
After doing our digipak construction we had to start thinking about our magazine advert. We sat down and decided on three images which we would develop into our 3 initial ideas. The images we chose either linked with the narrative and the idea of being alone, links to the digipak or links to the actual video itself. Using the editing programme Fireworks I went about and created two initial ideas, I then decided to show both of the images to the rest of the group; get their opinions and criticisms. While I got their opinions i decided to set up my iphone 6 to record them, i then took the two videos and edited them together on IMovie.
So we decid
As a group we decided to send out a questionnaire (which you can see on the magazine questionnaire page). After sending out the questionnaire to 7 people and receiving them back, we needed to sit down as a group and decide which one was our favourite. I set up my phone again in front of the computer screen while we had the conversation; this video is below. Although we liked design A, we decided it didn’t fully link with our product and the message we were trying to portray; although a well shot and constructed advert it just wasn’t what we wanted. We were then stuck between advert B and C.
Advert B related to the music video as that shot is in the video. We knew that typically magazine adverts come out the same/similar time to the digipak but they come out before the video. Therefore to reach our target audience it was more important to create synergy between the digipak and the magazine advert; this is one of the reasons that we decided to go with C. Another reason as to why we decided on C was the fact that we loved the image and the actual layout of the advert, the titles were bold but didn’t pull the audience’s attention away from the image. The image itself really portrays the narrative as well as having synergy with the digipak. Our final decision was C, I now went back to the design programme to edit little parts of the advert like the Spotify signs and the colour of the images.
