Preliminary task - Lip Sync video

When we found out our preliminary task was

to produce a lip sync video the first thing we

did as a group was mind map our ideas. After

discussing the different types of genre we

decided to go with pop. We wanted it to be

upbeat and funny, we also wanted to play

around with different editing techniques

suchas split screens and quick cuts. Our song

'Hey Ya’ by OutKast has a very exciting vibe to

it and we knew it would give us the opportunityto try new, contemporary and unfamiliar camera and editing techniques.

Planning

Our final product; staring me, danielle, tom and jamie. We all had a go at the camerawork and editing although we did have to ask some more people tol star in the video.

We were very happy with our final product and had a lot of fun producing it. I believe what we did best was using many different editing techniques for different parts of the song; my faviroute part being our 4 way split screen which abled us to lip sync to the whole song (even the quitter part of the chorus) rather than just repeating the “hey ya” over and over.

Throughout the production of the video there is many things that we can improve upon as a group. We could defiantly be more organised with our timing schedule for filming which would make sure we aren’t wasting valuable time which we could be spending on the editing process.  There’s many other techniques that can be learned on Sony Vegas Pro that I believe would progress our work further. We could also improve some of the quality of the shots for example  the first chorus of the ‘hey ya’s’ could have been done on a day with better weather but also we could have enhanced the shots using colour corrector to make sure that they are as vibrant and crisp as the other shots.

Learning how to use new editing techniques means that we have a wider knowledge of Sony Vegas this gives us more options when it comes to our main task; progressing our work to a high standard. Everyone having a go at filming and using the camera allows us to teach each other different techniques we’ve learnt with the camera, for example myself and Danielle learnt how to change the camera lenses which means for our main task we can use the equipment to its full potential; therefore developing our product.
